Jim Skrip is an accountant by training and a successful real estate businessman who came to fame after he became known as the husband of American actress, singer, fashion designer, and ex-beauty Queen, Vanessa Williams.
Skrip has always wanted to join the mainstream entertainment industry by becoming an actor. Jim Skrip was born on the first day of January 1960. He is of American nationality and traces his roots to somewhere in Mexico City. He studied Accountancy at the St Bonaventure University and when he graduated, he worked as an accountant for some firms.
Afterwards, he took a trajectory into the real estate business and became well-known and successful. However, he had a passion for acting and has always wanted to be an actor, which is why he got a role in Desperate Housewives although he failed to get other acting jobs afterward.
His wife on her part is a versatile artist. She was born in 1963 and was the first African American to wear the coveted crown of Miss America until a nude photo scandal brought an end to her reign. She has also contributed so much to the music industry with albums such as ‘Right Stuff’ and ‘Comfort Zone’. She won triple platinum with ‘Comfort zone’ and has sold over 6 million copies worldwide as well as many Grammy nominations.
In addition, she is also a movie star. Her debut film was the 1986 movie ‘Under the Gun’ but she has since featured in other movies including ‘Pick up artist’ ‘Another you’ and The Marlboro Man’. Her height is 5ft 6 inches.
Marriage to Vanessa Williams
If anyone had told Skrip that a sabre shirt would lead him to his future wife, he probably wouldn’t have believed it. Skrip met Vanessa Williams when he went on a vacation alone in Egypt in 2013. She was vacationing with her daughter Sasha, when she spotted Skrip wearing a sabre shirt that reminded her of her mother’s hometown, Buffalo. Then she approached him and confirmed that indeed, he had stayed in Buffalo, the two struck up a conversation that lasted for hours. They ended up having dinner together and enjoyed each others company. They discovered that they had a lot of things in common and they felt mutual attraction for each other. Soon, their love blossomed and they began to date but kept it away from the media.
They broke the secrecy after their engagement and it became common knowledge. it only came out in the open when Vanessa showed off her engagement ring at the Queen Latifah Show on September 26, 2014. It was a specially designed Diamond ring by Buffalo-based designer, Bomi.
Thereafter, Skrip and Williams exchanged marital vows at a wedding which took place on the 4th of July 2015. It was a stylish, Egyptian themed wedding, held at the St Stanislaus church, Buffalo and attended by family and friends. Even more significant is the fact that the wedding took place at the same church where Jim’s parents exchanged their vows years ago. Vanessa walked down the aisle in a lovely white gown designed by Carmen Marc Valvo while Skrip complemented the look in a beautiful white tuxedo.
However, the couple had to repeat their wedding ceremony the following year. Reason being that Jim’s annulment from his previous marriage wasn’t completed before he wed Vanessa William. This time, the Catholic wedding was held at Vanessa’s hometown of Chappaqua, New York.
The bride donned a Pamella Roland V-neck gown with a pink sash around the waist and wore drop earrings to finish off the look, while the groom was pictured with a black pantsuit and a light pink tie.
