The famous waffle recipe is a staple breakfast in most households in America with a wide range of varieties to choose from. From crispy to fluffy, waffle comes in different sizes or shape and can be eaten plain; for thinner kinds, or you can enjoy it with toppings like fruits, honey, chocolate, jam, ice cream…, etc.

Waffle is almost everybody’s favorite breakfast and I bet you never go wrong with the recipe if you follow the steps as shown below. All you need is the right measurements of ingredients: flour, butter, baking powder, eggs, sugar and vanilla.

Kids especially love the crispy waffle for some reason you’d imagine, but then, most of us do.

Waffle Recipe

This waffle recipe is easy to make right from scratch – any time, any day. By mixing the following ingredients and with a waffle maker, you can have a delicious homemade crispy or fluffy waffle in a jiffy. It is best to gather the ingredients in one place so you don’t forget

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 eggs

2 tablespoon sugar

1 1/2 cups warm milk

4 teaspoon baking powder

1 stick unsalted butter,

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation:

Step1: Combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, sugar and salt (dry ingredients) in a bowl and set aside

Step 2: Whisk the eggs in large bowl until fluffy. Stir in the milk, vanilla and melting butter and continue to whisk until thoroughly combined or smooth (wet ingredients)

Step 3: Combine the dry and wet ingredients with rubber or wooden spatula to form a smooth batter.

Step 4: Preheat waffle maker. Once it’s hot, spray with non-stick cooking spray or just brush it up with melted butter using a kitchen basting brush.

Step 5: Gently dribble the batter onto the hot waffle plate and cook until it is golden brown. Remove the hot plate with a pair of tongs and serve hot.

Tip: Place the waffles on the baking rack in a single layer, after you remove them from the hot plate. This will prevent them from getting soggy.

Crispy Waffle

To get a thin, crispy waffle, you can pour the batter thinly into the preheated waffle maker and cook longer until it becomes crisp. If it doesn’t get as crispy as you prefer, you can place them on a baking rack and bake inside a 250F (121 C) oven for fewer than 7 minutes.

By placing the waffle on a rack rather than directly on the sheet, you are letting the hot air circulate around the waffle to keep it crisp.

Fluffy Waffle

What makes a fluffy waffle lies on how the egg was incorporated during the mixing process. You would need to whip in more air into the mixture but it has to be done gently not to overwork the gluten and make your waffle tough.

On the other hand, you can whip egg whites to be foamy and fold it into your waffle batter. This makes the waffle super fluffy since the air bubbles get trapped inside the batter, giving the batter a spongy texture.
