Timothy Mowry: What You Didn’t Know About Tamera and Tia’s Dad

Timothy Mowry is a retired sergeant of the United States Army who is also the father of famous American celebrity twin actresses: Tamera and Tia Mowry. Though he had a successful career while working with the US military, he is more famous for being the father of the celebrity twin sisters and he has since then taken a celebrity status for himself as well.

Timothy Mowry was Born in 1957

He is named Timothy John Mowry, born in Florida on January 4, 1957, of English-American of Irish lineage. Regarding his parents and siblings,  we were unable to verify details about who they are and how many siblings he might likely have.

However, Timothy was raised in Miami, Florida by his parents where he went to a local high school in the area. Due to his preference for privacy, nothing about his education is known. But we know that his dad was a lover of sports and this made him expose to different kinds of sports at a young age.

This early exposure helped Timothy to become very active and proficient in many sports activities, including yoga.

Timothy Mowry had a very Successful Career

Timothy Mowry made up his mind to join the army after he passed out from high school.  His decision to become a soldier was partly due to his involvement in sports.

He passed the required mental and physical tests and soon became a first sergeant in the army.  During his time as a 1SG, Timothy led a battalion along with many other administrative duties.

In his years of active service in the United States military, Timothy Mowry was also decorated with the following honors and recognitions: First Sergeant (1SG) and Battalion Force Leader.

When the right time came, he retired from the US army after many years of active service. He relocated to California where he secured a job in the Glendale Police Department where he worked as a custody officer.

Timothy Mowry’s estimated net wealth is $2 million. This estimation comes majorly from his $40,000 yearly pension as a retired Army.  As a custody officer, the exact amount he gets as a salary is not known. Obviously, Timothy has made a name for himself both as a military officer and even now. He leans on his daughter’s fame and has earned a TV appearance (though whether he was given a monetary reward is not known).

While in High School, Timothy and Darlene Reeny Flowers met and fell deeply in love that she later became his wife. The duo joined the US army after graduating from high school and at the youthful age of 18, the lovers eloped and got married in the year, 1975.

Timothy and Darlene stayed together for forty years but separated in 2015. Details of what led to their divorce were unknown and as such we could not tell the circumstances surrounding it. His ex-lover, Darlene Renee Flowers was born on October 25, 1956.

Before joining the army, Darlene was working as a security guard. She then became part of the army after graduating from high school and over the years she has reached the rank of a drill sergeant. Darlene also served with her ex husband Timothy in Germany where she gave birth to their twin daughters; Tia and Tamera. 

The family later moved to Texas, USA in 1979.  From whence they moved to California. Darlene quit her military job to support her daughters’ careers while in California.

The Ex-couple Had Four Children Before Their Separation in 2015

In the forty years that Timothy Mowry and Darlene Flowers were together, they had a total of four children who have all grown to become adults. Their children include twin girls named Tia and Tamera and sons named Tahj and Tavior Mowry.

Four years into their marriage, Timothy and Darlene welcomed Tia and Tamera; precisely on July 6, 1978. The girls were only two minutes apart, making Tia the older sister.

The twins’ journey into the limelight began with their participation in various pageantries and commercials. They made their first acting performance in the 1987 series titled Full House.

However, they became famous with the series Sister Sister and have gone on to finish several other projects together. The girls have co-starred in many other movies and Television series including Are You Afraid of the Dark? ( 1995), Detention (1999–2000), Seventeen Again (2000), Twitches (2005), Twitches Too (2007), Tia & Tamera (2011–2013), Double Wedding (2010).

Tamera and Tia are both happily married with two kids each from their husbands, Adam Housley and Cory Hardrict respectively.
