A year after Rey Mysterio married Angie Gutierrez, they had their first child, Dominik Oscar Gutierrez. 4 years later, the WWE wrestler was made a father again with the birth of Aalyah Gutierrez, his daughter.

Both children are well known in their dad’s professional space and the world at large as celebrity kids. Dominik, however, got more involved in his father’s career as he decided to take the same path.

By birth and family ties, Angie and Aalyah have also been featured in many of Rey Mysterio and Dominik’s lives in more ways than just being audience members rooting for them at their fights. Over the years, the women have featured in a few storylines involving father and son.

There’s more to know about Rey Mysterio’s children so let’s get into it.

Everything to Know About Dominik and Aalyah Gutierrez

1. Dominik Gutierrez was born in 1997

Rey Mysterio, born Oscar Gutierrez Rubio married Angie in 1996, and a few months later, on April 5, 1997, they welcomed their first child together.

Dominik Oscar Gutierrez was born in San Diego, California. His ancestry shows that he is Mexican-American.

Dominik is currently married to Marie Juliette Virissimo. The couple met over a decade ago in a Spanish class and have been together ever since.

The wedding took place in March 2024 and Rey Mysterio made a surprise appearance at the wedding to celebrate with his son and his new wife.

2. Rey Mysterio’s Second Child was Born in 2001

Aalyah Gutierrez was born on August 20, 2001, in California as the second child of Oscar Gutierrez and Angie. She is the only sibling of ‘Dirty’ Dominik Gutierrez and also a Mexican-American.

Rey’s first and only daughter has made cameos at her father’s events and also has a feature in a storyline where she was romantically involved with wrestler, Murphy.

Aalyah and her father share a lovely bond as her father not only dots on her but never tires to sing her praises whenever he can, and also love to protect her.

3. Dominik AKA ‘Dirty’ Dominik Gutierrez is a WWE Wrestler Like His Father

He is a third-generation professional wrestler following in the footsteps of his great uncle, Rey Misterio Sr., and his father, Rey Mysterio.

Rey was trained to be a professional wrestler by his father and then by some other professional trainers like Jay Lethal, Konnan, Lance Storm, and trainers at the WWE Performance Center.

He made his professional WWE wrestling debut in August 2020 at the age of 23. Dominik was exposed to the world of wrestling at a very young age having been an audience member of his dad’s fights and also starring in a storyline in 2005 following a custody battle between his father and Eddie Guerrro.

Rey Mysterio also hinted 4 years before his son’s debut that the young man had asked to be trained by him on how to become a professional wrestler.

A year after his debut, ‘Dirty’ Dominik Gutierrez and his father became the first father-and-son tag team to win ‘Tag Team Titles’ in WWE.

‘Dirty’ also has some personal feats of his own as he won the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Rookie of the Year award in 2021. He also won the NXT North American Championship 3 years after his debut.

Rey’s son was also awarded the ‘Most Hated Wrestler of 2023’ by ‘Pro Wrestling Illustrated’. He further clinched titles such as;

  • ESPN’s NO. 5 best Pro Wrestlers Under 30 in 2023
  • Faction of the Year as a part of The Judgment Day twice in 2023 (In New York Post and Pro Wrestling Illustrated) and once in 2024 (in WWE)
  • 69 of the top 500 singles Wrestlers in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated 500 in 2024
  • 2 Slammy Awards
  • ‘Villain of the Year’ in 2024

4. The Father and Son went Head-to-Head after Several Disrespects from Dominik

Dominik also known as ‘Dom’ nurtured a ‘beef’ for his father since September 3, 2022, when Rey took the side of his friend, Edge, after the team lost a fight as a result of a missed assist by Edge.

From that moment, a brewing battle between father and son began and an anticipated showdown in the ring loomed.

Father and son have faced off many times, especially during family moments like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other times and Dom’s disrespect got loud.

Dom even mentioned on RAW that he wished Eddie, one of Dom’s earliest faves in the sport, was his father instead of Rey.

Despite all attempts to ignore his son’s misbehaviors, Rey was finally pushed into accepting a battle with the boy.

Their faceoff happened on April 1, 2024, and as expected, the older Mysterio taught his son more lessons on respecting elders.

We already know Dominik has followed in his father’s path and could be well on his way to becoming a Hall of Famer like Rey Mysterio.

Aalyah on the other hand, may just have a different calling.

The WWE Cruiserweight Champion of all time hinted that his daughter might also get into wrestling just like her brother. He revealed that when she was younger, she enjoyed appearing on TV and that if she ever decided to become a wrestler, he would train her as he did with her brother.

Aalyah, a graduate of Grossmont College, continued her studies at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She got into the university in 2023 and from the look of things, is pursuing a career in the medical field.

If she would switch to wrestling after graduating medical school, we don’t know yet but we will be here for the news if and when it happens.
