Pierce Brosnan’s wife Keely Shayne Smith (born on September 25, 1963, in Vallejo California) has established herself as a journalist, TV presenter, actress, author and model. It has been more than two decades since Pierce Brosnan married his wife Keely Shayne Smith after they met at a beach party in Mexico City.

The Irish /American actor has been nominated for the Golden Globe award twice and mostly famous for his role as James Bond from 1995-2002 as well as his role in the 1982 TV series, Remington Steele. His marriage with Keely has been peaceful, blessed with kids and the love they have for each other remains strong from all indications.

It is the second time Pierce Brosnan would be tying the nuptial knot. His first wife, Cassandra Harris died from ovarian cancer in 1991, after eleven years of marriage, leaving him with three children: Christopher, Charlotte and Sean. Christopher and Charlotte are Cassandra’s children from her previous marriage, while Sean is her son with Brosnan. Sadly, Charlotte suffered the same fate as her mother and died tragically from ovarian cancer in 2013.

Brosnan also has two more sons Dylan and Paris Beckett from his marriage to Keely Shayne Smith.

Meanwhile, Brosnan was born in Drogheda County, Louth Ireland on May 16, 1953. He attended St Anne Primary school Nevada and is the only child of his parents, Thomas and Mary May Brosnan, however, his father later abandoned his family when Pierce was an infant. At the age of four, His mother left him in the care of his grandparents to pursue a better life as a nurse in London.

After a while, Brosnan moved to London where he was nicknamed ‘Irish’ at his new school, Elliot School in Putney, South West London. Upon graduation, he wanted to be a painter but was later drawn to acting and spent three years at the Drama Centre London in order to sharpen his skills.

When he eventually started acting, he became the fifth actor to be chosen for the character of secret agent James Bond in four films from 1995-2002, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The world is not Enough and Die Another Day. He also starred in other films as well, such as Dante’s peak (1997), Thomas Crown Affair (1999), Mama Mia (2008), Ghostwriter  (2010), and The November Man(2004).

In 1996, Brosnan formed a production company, Irish Dreamtime, alongside Beau St. Clair.

Meanwhile, Brosnan and Keely’s wedding took place at Ballintubber Abbey, County Mayo Ireland. It was a choice gathering of 100 people, lavishly entertained with a massive display of fireworks, a seven-tier wedding cake and a special ice sculpture. The wedding’s coverage right was obtained by Hello! Magazine and the money donated to charity.

1. She was an ace Journalist

Pierce Brosnan’s wife Keely Shayne Smith once worked for the ABC as a correspondent on the Good Morning America show. She was also a correspondent on the NBC’s primetime show, Unsolved mysteries, as well as an entertainment correspondent for The Today Show. She also worked for other media organizations such as CBS,  HBO and Outdoor Life Network.

2. Her first major onscreen project was in the MTV music video Stuck with You. It peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. Thereafter, she starred in Norman’s corner (1987), The Opponent (1988) and General Hospital (1987).

On November 2016 Keely’s movie, Poisoning Paradise in which she is both the director and producer, was released.

3. Keely is also a strong advocate for the environment, serving as an environmental correspondent for the ABC’ s The home show for six years. She has won two Genesis award and a special achievement award at the 1991 Environmental Film Festival.

More so, she has been honored by several organizations including Women in Films, The Natural Resources Defense Council, Earth Communications Office, Heal the Bay,  Malibu Times, Organic Style Magazine.

In addition, Keely and Brosnan created a show on eco-friendly home called ‘Home Green Home’ for PBS.

4. Pierce Brosnan’s wife is committed to Environmental Education

Keely alongside her husband is passionate about teaching environmental education to grades K-12 by supporting their friend’s Root and Shoot youth and humanitarian program. She and Her husband Brosnan has done a  film on the environment.  The award-winning documentary film is titled Poisoning Paradise and it exposes the dangers of pollution on Hawaii

5. She is at the forefront of the new climate change bill. Smith and Brosnan went to Washington DC in May 2009 to lend their voice to the new climate change bill before the Environmental Protection Agency.

6. She is the mother of two models

Keely welcomed two sons with her husband, Dylan Thomas Brosnan ( born January 1997) and Paris Beckett Brosnan (born February 2001). Both of them are now models gracing the runways of major brands in fashion.

Dylan is also the lead singer of the Raspberry Blonde band and also an actor, while Paris is a filmmaker. They were selected as Golden Globe ambassadors for this year’s award ceremony.

7. She is a philanthropist

In 2007, the couple helped to raise funds for the rehabilitation of a playground in Kauai Hawaii by making a donation of a hundred thousand dollars.

Moreover, the couple donated the $735,000 proceed from Hello! Magazine’s coverage of their wedding reception to school building projects in Tibet.

8. She gained some weight – and then lost some

Smith experienced a dramatic weight gain after the birth of her second son and was trolled as a result of it.  It didn’t help that she was a  former model who used to grace red carpets all over the world. She was unable to shed the weight even after going through the Atkins diet and the South Beach diet but nevertheless, Brosnan remains very supportive and never failed to praise her on social media –  fat or not.

However, when she appeared at Mama Mia’s movie premiere, fans were elated that she had obviously lost some weight. She was reported to have dropped about 48 kilos (100 pounds) of weight from an overhaul of her diet and lifestyle.
