Nipsey Hussle (Ermias Joseph Asghedom) may have died in his prime but it is safe to say that he lives on through his two kids. He was a father to his daughter Emani Asghedom and his son, Kross Ermais Asghedom. The late rapper had his children through his relationships with Tanisha Foster and actress Lauren London.

Besides his children, Hussle was survived by his parents Ermias Asghedom and Angelique Smith; and his two siblings Samiel Asghedom “Blacc Sam” and Samantha Smith. Emani, the first of the two children of Nipsey Hussle may have found fame through her father’s career but she is gaining a name for herself. She recently became spotlighted as one of the producers of a docuseries centered on her father’s life.

The docuseries is a project being put together by basketballer LeBron James and his business partner Maverick Carter.

In another aspect of her life, Emani has proven to be a singer. While she may not have shown interest in taking music as a career at the time of this report, a video of her singing has made rounds on social media. The 2021 video showed her singing a rendition of Whitney Houston’s Always Love You.

Long before her life of fame and where she is now, Emani was born on November 9, 2008, in California. She is Nipsey Hussle’s only daughter and was born from his relationship with Tanisha Foster.

Emani was born the same year her father released the first two installments of his Bullets Ain’t Got No Name series of mixtapes. The mixtapes helped to set him up for fame in different parts of the world, especially the United States.

In her later life, she was caught up in the middle of a custody battle following her father’s death in 2019. The custody battle was between her mother Tanisha and her father’s family. The court would later grant her paternal family her custody while her mother was granted more visitation time.

About two and a half years before Nipsey’s demise, Kross was born as the rapper’s only son and youngest child. He was born on August 31, 2016, to the Grinding All My Life singer and his then-girlfriend, Lauren London.

His birth was announced on the individual Instagram pages of his parents. He has since been in the spotlight as a celebrity child.

Kross has drawn attention for attending public functions, mostly related to his father. Shortly after his father’s death, Kross alongside other family members received the Humanitarian Award in honor of Nipsey Hussle at the 2019 BET Awards.

In a similar vein, Kross, his mother, and some family members were present at the Hollywood Walk of Fame where his father received a posthumous star on August 15, 2022.

In 2023, Ermais’ two children Emani and Kross were named the sole beneficiaries of his total assets worth $11 million. The estate will pay them $5 million and annual payments.

They were both entitled to 50% of cash and non-cash assets. The assets include:

  • 100% membership interest in Marathon Studios
  • 100% in marathon touring
  • 100% in Marathon Clothing Inc. and his trademark portfolio

Since they were both young at the time, London was granted guardianship of Kross’ inheritance. Emani’s was given to her Uncle Sam and her aunt Samantha.

Nipsey was from a small family of 5 and he traces his roots to East Africa.

His father, Dawit Asghedom is a native of Eritrea. He led his early life in the country before he fled to the United States as a refugee during the Eritrean War of Independence.

His life in America didn’t take his love for his heritage. He would tell his children about Eritrea, their family there, and many other stories. When Nipsey grew older, the family visited Eritrea and spent three months there. Nipsey spoke of the visit as a life-changing one.

Dawit met and married Angelique Smith (née Boutte), Hussle’s mother and an African-American woman. Their marriage lasted a while before they were divorced.

Regardless, his parents were both active in his life. He has told stories of how his mother would make him read and his father watched CNN all day.
