LeBron James is a renowned American professional Basketball player who is currently with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association, NBA. When it comes to spots,  diet and workout are one of the vital parts of the daily lives of professional athletes and LeBron James is no exception. Born on  December 30, 1984, in  Akron, Ohio, United States, James grew into basketball and turned out to be one of the world’s highest-paid athletes with a net worth of $275 million.

LeBron James Diet

You would agree with me that James sure knows how to pique the appetite with the Lobster tail, filet mignon and spinach risotto with Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2013 to wash it all down – proof of his love for wine, wine and good wine!

Speaking of his diet before and after a game, James said he would rather stick to a healthy diet like chicken breast with little carbohydrates like pasta plus salad and veggies to sustain him through a competition.  Sometimes,  a protein shake and some fruit are all he’d need to keep it together until after the game. Food like pies, pizza, sandwiches and french fries can follow “only after” a game, but not before a competition; and he does that for a professional reason.

Many athletes have learnt the importance of ketogenic diets and how it can enhance stamina, boost performance and aid post-workout recovery, according to dietitians.  It is a low carb, adequate protein and high-fat diets.

Weight Loss

James spoke about his weight loss on Sports Illustrates saying he stayed off sugar, dairy and carbohydrates and was eating meat, fish, veggies and low-sugar fruit for 67 straight days. He shared some posts of his meals on his IG page, two of which showed chicken and an arugula salad, mangoes, strawberries and cashews sprinkled with an olive oil/lemon vinaigrette dressing; plus a lobster salad with mango chutney. It was a fantastic weight loss.

Food Endorsement

Besides playing great games and earning millions in NBA salary and endorsement money, James knows what businesses to invest his money and food definitely one of it – Blase Pizza. He invested in the franchises in 2012 but didn’t actively participate in the business until 2015.

All the while, James was enjoying endorsement money from several brands including food and drink company such as  McDonald’s, Dunkin’ Brands and Coca-Cola. However,  he turned down McDonald’s endorsement renewal of $15 million to join Blaze Pizza’s marketing campaigns and using his Instagram page as a platform for promotion.

LeBron James Blaze Pizza

Blaze Pizza is a privately owned company that was originally launched in 2011 and went from a humble start-up of 2 outlets to 200 franchises in the past 4 years. In 2017, ESPN reported that James’ stake in the food and drink restaurants is at least $35 million in what was less than $1 million investment.

On why he chose to stand by Blaze rather than accepting millions from the already famous fast food restaurant like McDonald’s, the Basketball man said he believed in the actual product that he and co-owners established.

According to him, the amount that they could earn exceeds what McDonald’s offers over the next four years, plus the excitement of building something that is not only about the money.  It is worth mentioning that LeBron James topped a whopping sum of $42 million in endorsement earning in 2012 alone.

The same year, he won his first NBA championship in Miami and is currently on a four-year contract worth $154 million with the Los Angeles Lakers.
