Elvira Wayans was the matriarch of the famous African American family of the Wayans made up of ten children that have become widely known as a family of entertainers. She was born in 1938 and was a social worker and homemaker. Her husband Howell stouten Wayans worked as a supermarket manager and together, they raised ten children that are well known in the entertainment circle.

Elvira Wayans passed away in 2020 at the age of 81
Elvira Wayans died in July 2020, as disclosed by his youngest son Marlon Wayans through his Instagram post. Marlon paid a heartfelt tribute to his mum on what would have been her 82nd birthday. Sharing his grief on their shared birthday, Marlon Wayans wrote that losing his mother has shattered him into 1000 pieces and that he is putting himself back together piece by piece.
“You will always be my glue. Miss you. Today I celebrate for the both of us,” he stated.
The “Senseless” actor who turned 49 in 2021 reflected on spending his birthday alone in a follow-up Instagram post. He wished himself a Happy Birthday while expressing deep sorrow and gratitude to God quote:
“Happy birthday me… I would ask God’ Why me? Why am I suffering? He continued, “I don’t question you through this journey. On the other side of all this tragedy is victory. O I trust you. This is merely a journey to challenge me. You’re not breaking me, you’re making me�?.
Many friends and colleagues also came forward to condole with the actor. They include his former costar Bresha Webb and actor-director, Robert Townsend.
The family did not disclose Elvira Wayans’ cause of death and the exact date she died.
