Anna Faris' Ex-husband

The name ‘Ben Indra’ may not ring a bell to many because he isn’t as famous as other A-list celebrities in Hollywood. Not even his marriage to the Scary Movie actress, Anna Faris, made him very popular, but, it made him a celebrity ex-husband which we will be discussing in a bit.

Ben Indra was Anna’s first husband whose divorce has had several reasons given. It may have been a disparity in career, a new lover, or a personal demon that needed to be fought.

Maybe it was a combination of the aforementioned reasons but first, let us get introduced to the man who first stole Anna off the singles market.

Brief Bio of Anna Faris’ Ex-husband

Ben Indra was born Benjamin Jeffery Indra on February 23, 1979, in Sonoma County, California. He is almost 3 years younger than Anna who was born on November 29, 1976, in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.

Mostly known for his marriage to Anna, it is important to state that Ben also had a promising acting career albeit not as great as his ex-wife’s.

Ben Indra’s Filmography

According to his IMDB page, Ben Indra began his professional acting career on TV starring in the 1999-2002 Undressed series. He played Marlon in the 4th season of the series.

Ben and his ex-wife met while on the set of Lovers Lane in 2000. He was cast as a character named Bradley while Anna was cast as Jannelle Bay.

According to Anna who detailed her marriage to Ben in her 2017 book ‘Underqualified’, Indra proposed to her twice.

The first time was while they were on their way to eat burritos and she didn’t quite take him seriously because it didn’t seem like the right time for a proposal. However, when he proposed again, she accepted.

Their relationship took them down the aisle on June 3, 2004, 4 years after filming Lovers Lane.

At the time, Indra was about 25 years while Anna was 28 years.

They Got Divorced after 4 years of Marriage

About 4 years into their marriage, Indra and Faris got a divorce. They had no kids together and the Just Friends actress has cited a couple of reasons that perhaps led to the abrupt end of their marriage.

In her book, she revealed that at the time, she didn’t realize what she really wanted in her relationships and would equate cynicism, discontent, and anger, with intelligence which may have gotten her into the fix.

The divorce between Ben Indra and Anna Faris was sealed on February 19, 2008, 4 days before the Raising Dad actor’s 29th birthday.

The actress revealed that she became someone she didn’t recognize after the divorce. She who used to have a full fridge and hosted a lot of dinners now lived in an apartment with only beer and mustard in the fridge.

She also used to go out a lot and felt liberated after the divorce stating that she felt like she was a 17-year-old again.

Competitiveness and a Growing Career May Have Caused the Divorce

Aside from the above-mentioned reason cited by Anna, she also hinted at more plausible reasons. At the time of her first marriage, she and her husband were both actors and she had a competitiveness to her that turned everything with him into a quest to come out on top.

Also, seeing that her career blossomed in the early 2000s while her ex-husband’s dwindled and came to a halt in 2005, they may have fallen out over certain career issues.

There is also the speculation that a romance between Anna and her next husband may have led to the divorce. A year after her divorce from Indra, Faris got married to another actor, Chris Pratt.

They remained married for about 9 years, divorcing in 2018. Anna and Pratt have a son together.

After this second divorce, Indra’s ex-wife admitted that she was terrified that she wasn’t a good lover to her first 2 husbands and was also very conscious of her body. She also felt like both divorces were not independent actions of hers but ‘her hands were forced’.

3 years after Anna’s second marriage ended, she remarried yet again. After her second divorce, the actress got married a third time to the cinematographer known for Bunny, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and Ted, Michael Barrett.

The The Dictator actress believes that she has got it right this time around with her third marriage and has implied that she and her now-husband are better versions of themselves especially in the marriage.

The self-proclaimed ‘divorce veteran’ eloped with Michael and got married at a courthouse on San Juan Island, Washington in 2021.

Where is Anna Faris’s Ex-husband, Ben Indra, Now?

As earlier stated, the actor’s last credited role was in 2005, since then, he hasn’t had any movie or series credit. On the other hand, Ben Indra’s ex-wife, Anna Faris has been in My Spy: The Eternal City, a 2024-released movie and an episode of It’s Florida, Man, released in 2024.

Given that Ben Indra wasn’t very famous back then and his career has been on a halt for long, it isn’t public knowledge if he has gone into a different field or even remarried after his divorce from Anna.  He also seems to be away from social media.
