Since her marriage to Steve Martins, Stringfield has not shared much interest in Social gatherings and the red carpets. She is reputed to be camera shy and rarely appears at events. However, this complements her husband’s innate shy nature perfectly.

Career and marriage

Anne Stringfield landed a job with the New Yorker magazine as a fact-checker after her graduation. She further extended her journalistic work to writing art and off-Broadway reviews for Vogue Magazine.

Stringfield had her first encounter with her would-be husband in the course of her work.  Among her work pile was a review on Steve Martin’s comedy piece which resulted in frequent telephone communication between them. Both of them carried on their acquaintance for a year before they met physically and deeply fell in love despite the glaring 27-year age gap between them. They tied the knot in a surprise wedding ceremony at Martin’s house on July 28, 2007. Guests thought they were attending a house party but unknown to them, Stringfield and Martin’s wedding ceremony was about to take place. The best man of the groom was non-other than the iconic creator of Saturday Night Live!; Lorne Michaels, while Anne Stringfield sister was the maid of honor. It was indeed a star-studded event as there were many celebrities among the 75 guests including Tom Hanks, Eugene Levy, Carl Reiner and the Nebraska Senator, Bob Kerrey. After the outdoor ceremony, the couple jetted off to the West Indies for their honeymoon.

We have already established that Anne Stringfield is a private person who is rarely seen at occasions. And that was why guests were positively thrilled when she appeared on the red carpets with her husband during the 43rd American Film Institute Life Achievement Award which took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles in June 2015. Tina Fey, the hostess of the occasion and a longstanding friend of Steve Martin made a humorous remark about Stringfield’s resemblance to her, noting that Martin had married ‘ a woman who is the younger, thinner, smarter version of me”.

Recall that Martin has been involved in some high-profile relationships including his marriage to actress Victoria Tennant which took place in 1986 and ended in 1994. Stringfield on the other hand has never been married and is having a marital relationship for the very first time with Steve Martin.

Another pleasure was added to the couple’s life when they welcomed their daughter in December 2012. Although Martin experienced the joy of Fatherhood late in life at the age of 67, he has always acted father role in some of his movies. Journalists were eager to find out how it felt to be a father at that age and Martin promptly replied that he would have been a lousy father if he had become a father at an earlier age because he would have been more focused on his career and disregarded his children, but now, he has a lot of free time to play with his daughter.
