4 of Paul Doiron’s Best Sellers
1. The Precipice (Mike Bowditch, #6)
This is the 6th part of the Mike Bowditch series written by Paul Doiron and released as his 6th mystery book in 2015.
The story tells of the mysterious disappearance first of 2 young female hikers and how a team of searchers including the Game Warden, Mike Bowditch, comb the Hundred Mile Wilderness to find them.
When 2 dead bodies were eventually discovered, it was believed that the ladies were devoured by coyotes which had been threatening the area.
Bowditch’s girlfriend, biologist Stacey Stevens, makes his investigation more difficult as her claims of a different murderer leave him unsettled.
When she goes missing just like the first 2 female hikers, Mike becomes more interested in exploring the thought that there might truly be a different, more dangerous murderer in the North Woods.
2. The Poacher’s Son (Mike Bowditch, #1)
This book is the first of Paul’s crime series and was the very first of his books. It was released in 2010 upon Doiron’s debut.
In this series, we are introduced to Mike Bowditch as he returns home to an unusual cryptic message from his father, Jack, who was MIA (Missing In Action) for 2 years.
While still trying to figure out what the message is all about, Mike gets an unexpected call from the police the next day, intimating to him about a murder and how his father, Jack, is the prime suspect in the murder.
In a bid to get answers and clear his father from the accusation, Mike sets out into the Maine Wilderness. At the back of his mind, he aims for the real killer which is the only way to clear his father of the crime and put a close to the mystery.
3. Trespasser (Mike Bowditch, #2)
Just after The Poacher’s Son comes Trespasser, the second of Paul Doiron’s books in order. This book was released in 2011 and tells the tale of a missing woman whose story reminds him of another similar crime that happened almost 10 years before.
When the news of the missing woman reached Mike and the manner of disappearance was reported, the Game Warden believed that whoever was behind the crime could be a returning offender and may have once gotten away with murder.
However, just like 7 years ago, Bowditch realizes that he may have crossed rough territories and may be dealing with very dangerous people. Despite the threats, Mike Bowditch refused to sit still and do nothing, further endangering the life of the woman he loves.
4. The Bone Orchard (Mike Bowditch, #5)
The 4th of author Paul Doiron’s best books is the 5th of the series and also the 5th released book. The Bone Orchard was published in 2014 and this crime fiction book follows a separate story of an attempted murder.
In this part of the series, Mike Bowditch leaves the Warden Service and begins working as a fishing guide.
Things began to go south when his Sgt. Kathy Frost’s life becomes threatened after she is forced to kill a troubled war veteran. When Frost becomes a target of government inquiry and an attempted murder, Mike has to step up and join the search for the culprit.
However, to succeed in this mission, he needed to uncover certain secrets that also posed a threat to his relationship with biologist Stacey.
Through the entire saga, Mike Bowditch also had to delve into self-realization and figure out who he really is and his priorities in life.
