Her Early Life and Background
Beth Shuey was born and raised in Indiana to her parents Thomas Milton Shuey and Joyce Antcliff. She has a sister named Debbie Shuey Doyle.
During her formative years, she attended North Newton Junior and High School, followed by Indiana State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. After graduating, she volunteered as a coach and became a Divorce Care leader at Cross Timbers Church in Texas.

While Shuey was a student at Indiana State University, she met Payton, who was the running back and wide receivers coach. They dated for a while before walking down the aisle on July 11, 1992.
The former couple welcomed their first child, a daughter Meghan,([age dob=”19979191″]), in 1997, five years after marriage. Their son Connor,([age dob=”20000101″]), was born in 2000.
She and her family stayed in Indiana for a while before her then-husband became the head coach of the New Orleans Saints and the whole family moved to Mandeville, Louisiana.
Additionally, it was later discovered that their home in Mandeville was built with defective Chinese drywall, which led to Sean being named as a plaintiff in a class action against the manufacturer.
The family moved back to Dallas and purchased a home in the Vaquero Club, close to celebrities like the Jonas Brothers and Josh Hamilton. While the family settled in Westlake, Sean remained in New Orleans.
Beth and Sean ended their marriage after 20 years
The marriage began to crash when Sean’s Bounty scandal and suspension came to light. Just before their 20th wedding anniversary, the couple filed for divorce in 2012 at a Tarrant County court.
On June 14, 2012, Payton reportedly filed a petition in Tarrant County district court seeking a divorce from his then-wife. He lists the grounds as discord or conflict of personalities and asked the court to divide their assets and provide joint custody for their children, who were minors at the time.
Beth on the other hand, filed a counter petition on June 26 seeking for sole custody of the children and exclusive rights to make other decisions as regards the children.
The divorce was finalized in 2014. Beth was awarded primary custody of the children while her ex-husband paid substantial alimony and child support.

Beth and Sean raised their children together
Sean and Beth had to put aside their differences for the sake of their children. They co-parent their children together.
Their daughter, Meghan, worked as a sideline reporter for the Saints before she moved to work as a Sports Gild reporter. Connor, on the other hand, seems to have taken after his father. He is now a professional football player. He also worked at the Saints training camp in 2022 for the Saints Scouting Department.

The coach’s ex-wife worked at a Divorce Care group and tried to help other divorcees with support and assistance to their families. It was while she was working there that she found love, again.
The mother of two met James McGuire during a book signing and they soon started dating. James McGuire is a Raleigh NC realtor and he has two children just like her. On September 20, 2020, Beth and her new-found love married in the presence of their loved ones.
Since Beth and James are passionate about giving back to their community, they have been involved in several philanthropic endeavors. The couple runs the Beth Shuey and Jamie McGuire Foundation together.
Similarly, Beth’s husband married Skylene Montgomery, former Miss West Virginia, in June 2021 after dating for five years. Sean also retired from his coaching career in January 2022 but returned in January 2023 as the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

After she remarried, Sean Payton’s ex-wife took her new man’s name. She now goes by the name Beth Shuey McGuire. She lives with her husband in Raleigh and they both enjoy adventuring in nature and hiking.
The lovebirds once mentioned that one of their favourite places is the Blue Ridge Mountains.
While her husband has been working with The Jim Allen Group for the past two decades as a real estate agent, Beth authored her first book in 2022.
