The American actress got married in 2022 to a man she had known since her teenage years. When he first saw her, her husband, Nigel Walker, declared her his wife, and he made the proclamation a reality when they reconnected many years later.

Nigel Walker is a Master of Ceremony, MC, Host, and Lifestyle Concierge. He is also the host of the podcast, ‘Read the Room’. Aisha Hinds’ husband is mostly known by his stage name ‘Silky Valente’.
Born sometime in the first week of September (presumably on the 4th), Hinds’ husband is a proud Virgo. He hails from Sri Lanka and has a sister and a brother. He calls his sister his ‘little big sister’ and also his second mother.
Nigel’s brother, Andre Walker is a fashion designer and creative companion.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nigel Walker lent his time and services to the Mount Sinai Hospital where he served as an essential worker.
They Met as Teenagers Through Aisha’s Best Friend
In a tell-it-all with Munaluchibrides, Aisha narrated how she had met Nigel decades ago when they were still teenagers.
Her best friend, Jalene, is cousins with Nigel and while walking down a street with her one day, they met the MC in front of his mother’s salon. When Nigel saw Ms. Hinds, he said to his cousin that she brought him his wife, referring to the True Bloods Actress.
Aisha and Nigel exchanged contacts that day after making a connection. Over the years, they lost contact and only reunited sometime in 2019.
Hinds and Walker found themselves again at the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic and spent most of that period catching up. Despite the many years that had passed, they both still felt the connection they felt as teenagers and this prompted the beginning of their relationship.
Nigel Walker and Aisha Had a Long Distance Relationship
At the time Nigel and his long-lost love reunited and rekindled their love, they were based in different parts of the United States of America.
Nigel lived in Brooklyn while Aisha was in Los Angeles and so they had to deal with distance during their first few months as a couple. This situation proved to be a huge obstacle for them, however, they made sacrifices and traveled to each other every month when they could.
Also, the couple maximized their communication and were transparent, thoughtful, and vulnerable with each other. This also helped them pull through while far away from each other.
Walker and Hinds managed to make time to spend 2019’s New Year’s Eve together in Grenada, Hinds’ hometown. The couple crossed over to 2020 in each other’s company.

While working at Mount Sinai Hospital during the 2019 pandemic, Nigel began to see life differently. Realizing how fickle it is and how short of a time humans have, he decided he didn’t want to waste any more time being away from Dollhouse actress.
This and the fact that they were separated for over a decade, encouraged his decision to propose to his woman.
While in Grenada for the New Year’s holiday, Walker became certain that he wanted to do life with Aisha.
On Aisha’s birthday, November 13, 2020, Walker got on one knee and asked the actress to marry him. She turned 45 years old that day and they were at the rooftop of Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, California when he popped the question.
This proposal came as a huge shock to Hinds who thought that she would be able to perceive when he planned to propose to her. She didn’t expect that it would be soon let alone on her birthday, that year.
She announced her proposal a few days later on her IG handle with a cute photo of her and Nigel and her ring.

In honor of Aisha’s parents who are Grenadians, Nigel and Hinds got married in Grenada. The wedding happened a few months short of their second engagement anniversary.
On May 21, 2022, the couple hosted 170 guests for a 5-day-long wedding ceremony. The wedding was the talk of the town for a long time as the actress and her MC husband pulled off a never-before-seen celebration.
May 21, 2024, marked their second year married and they never fail to commemorate the day and share lovely messages.
Aisha Hinds Imbibes What She Learned From Her Role into Her Marriage
Nigel Walker’s wife has been an actress for over 2 decades and has been in over 70 movies and TV series. She has had great stints in projects such as The Shield, Invasion, Detriot 1-8-7, Under the Dome, Madea Goes to Jail, and Desperate Housewives. Some were regular roles, some recurring, while others were minor roles.
Amongst all her roles, Aisha admits that she has learned a lot from her onscreen character Henrietta ‘Hen’ Wilson in the procedural drama 9-1-1.
In the TV series, she was married to Karen Wilson played by Tracie Thoms and they had quite a special relationship.
Aisha shared that she was able to take away from her character the ability to communicate. She also learned to be vulnerable and real with her husband from her onscreen relationship in the TV drama. This, she admits, has been helpful to her as a newly married woman.
