The world knows Anthony Joshua as a British-Nigerian professional boxer who is currently a unified heavyweight world champion. One who holds three of the four major world championships in boxing, including the International Boxing Federation, IBF title since 2016;  the WBA (Super) title (2017), and the World Boxing Organization title since March 2018, according to Wikipedia.

He started boxing at age 18 and use to work as a bricklayer at construction sites; He won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics and is the second boxer to ever become a World Heavyweight Champion while reigning as Olympic Champion in the same weight category.

Yet, there’s more to Anthony Joshua’s lifestyle than just his boxing career.  For instance, Joshua’s daily calorie intake is  4,500 which estimated to take an average person about two complete marathons to burn off. How’s that for starters? Let’s get to know more about this guy.

Biography

Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua was born on October 15, 1989, in Watford, Hertfordshire, UK to Nigerian parents, Yeta Odusanya, Robert Joshua. He is of Yoruba and Irish ethnicity from his mother’s and father’s side respectively. He spent his early years in Nigeria where he attended boarding school and later return to the United Kingdom to complete his grade 7 education. From there, the sky became a starting point for Anthony Joshua whom friend call Femi.

Anthony Joshua Diet

Most athletes are known to seek special diet plan to maintain good health and body weight required for the game and Joshua is no exception.

The 2012 Olympic gold medal winner maintains a massive balanced diet, supplemented by regular energy drinks, water for hydration; “slow-release recovery shake, with protein and carbohydrates.” This is what Joshua’s daily meals look like,

1. Two slices of wholemeal bread, one banana, five poached eggs, one pot of Greek yoghurt and one serving of apple juice to start a beautiful day.

2. Two fillets of raw salmon, baked potatoes, bean salad and water, for lunch, followed by an afternoon snack of Greek yoghurt, fruit salad and muesli. For dinner, chicken,  mashed potatoes with butter, white pitta bread, mixed vegetables and orange juice.

3. Freshly baked and warm deli apple pie, topped with ice cream is one of Joshua’s sweet treats when he’s not preparing for fights.

4. The boxer also has a personal chef who prepares treats like protein bars complemented with fruits and nuts, plus a protein shake to help him sleep.

5. During training, Joshua is allowed to enjoy sweet but healthy desserts like “fruit mousse or yoghurt,” according to his nutritionist, Mark Ellison.

Suffice to say, Joshua got a massive appetite for his size, thus eat more food than an average man can stomach.

Body Measurements

Anthony Joshua is one hunky chunky boxer not to reckon with in the hurt business. With one hell of a weight of 113kg (249 pounds) and a height of 1.98m (6ft 6in), you would definitely think twice before entering a brawl with him.

His other body measurements include chest size: 47 inches; waist size: 37 inches; arms/biceps: 27 inches; thigh:27 inches; neck size: 16 inches.

Anthony Joshua employs a large team of support staff supporting him, influenced during his time at the English Institute for Sport.  They include

A strength and conditioning coach, Jamie Reynolds; Two physiotherapists, Rob Madden at the CHHP Clinic in Harley Street, and a nutritionist, Mark Ellison, who is known to work with Britain’s Olympic combat sports competitors; followed by his trainer, Tony Sims.
